Journeys

Thanks be to God for this day that I awoke with more sensation returning to my left leg that has been feeling numb and cramped since Tuesday. Thank God I can feel my steps a little better than yesterday. Nonetheless, I need to train my legs to coordinate properly again... taking my baby steps to recovery. My left foot still feels weird and I get tightness in chest (pulls) off and on, making me breathless and giddy. Cramps and numbness still come on and off.

This morning's Daily Bread reading on 'Journeys' with reference to Philippians 1: 8 -18 seems to be a timely message to me. The key verse is v.12 "I want you to know, brethen, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel."

Even when our journeys in life is marked by confinement and limitations (in my present case: limitations in movement), we can be sure that the LORD will encourage others through us as we speak His Word and trust in Him.

The journeys that we take in life,
Though unexpected they may be,
If we commit to follow Christ,
His work through us the world will see.

For the Christian, what looks like a detour may actually be a new road to blessing.

This brings to mind a card that I have titled 'Don't Give Up'

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must,
but don't quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the cloud of doubt.

And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit:
It's when things seem worst
You must not quit.

For now, I must rest. There's more to come in the journey of life. Rest, recover and move on ahead! Always thankful and grateful for the friends & family whom God has sent into my life, like angels surrounding me. I feel very blessed. It's good that my friends care enough to tell me where I have gone wrong too. Pray that I learn to bring cheer and joy, not pain and hurt to the loved ones around me. I must learn to mature in speech, thoughts & actions. Though late at this stage of life, but I sure hope it's not too late to discover that and really work on it.

Life is full of lessons. It's a matter of learning from the lessons and not repeat the mistakes. That makes the difference! Learning from mistakes and resolving the problems to keep improving.
