Moments of reflection

It's been a long time since I last wrote in this blog. The past few months had been rather hectic with one event after another. 2 major events were TRACK ON and INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY.

As for teaching, I am glad that my pupils are slowly pulling up their socks and trying their best in learning. I am truly thankful that most of them are motivated and have shown progress from Common Test to SA1. Only a handful of them have not put in enough effort.

In Term 1, I had rewarded a group of 10 for doing well for Common Test by bringing them to Macdonald's for lunch and cycling at East Coast Park.

In Term 2, I rewarded another group of about 10 with a nature hike at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Thus far, these trips have been a positive motivation for my darlings to work hard and try their best. Perhaps, if possible, in Term 3, I might plan a trip to Pulau Ubin as reward for improvements made. Well, it all depends on the risks that I have to assess. Afterall, dreams are possible to come true... where there's a will, there's a way. HOPE does not disappoint. I will continue to have hopes in all my pupils. It's just a matter of time.

Recently, I returned from an expedition to Mount Ophir with the P5 Sports Leaders for their initiation.... the start to their journey as sports leaders. The expedition started on 2nd June and ended on 4th June. Initially, I was told that Mt Ophir was easier to climb than Mt Kinabalu. After the climb, I beg to differ. The rainforest terrain was definitely more difficult than the rocky terrain of Mt Kinabalu. Even though there was no rain, it was a tough climb up and down.

Nevertheless, it had been a fun time of relaxation, away from school and the endless things to do.

Through this expedition, I came to know more of the P5 Sports Leaders. Some shared secrets with me that amused me. I had to do some of the weirdest things for them during the expedition...couldn't believe I had to do such things. What to do? When help is needed, just gonna give of my all. I became the first aider during this expedition whereby many had scratches and bruises. One of the worst was a boy Sheng Zhi who was stung by a bee. Thankfully, after applying alcohol swap and antiseptic cream, he was okay. Hehe, my first aid skills had been put to good use.

On the last day, we rested at Water City Resort. Wow... finally, we had a good bath at the hotel and enjoyed our rest. All of us were so tired, especially the four teachers (Edwin, Imran, Melody and myself). Until now, I am still aching from the tedious climb. Nonetheless, this Mt Ophir expedition had been a great experience of travelling through rugged terrain that was slippery and steep. I enjoyed getting to know more of the P5 Sports Leaders. Heehee... managed to recruit a few p5s from there to join TK VINE. Yeah!

Just Be

Be strong enough to
face the world each day
Be weak enough to know
you cannot do everything alone

Be generous to those who need your help
Be frugal with what you need yourself

Be wise enough to know that
you do not know everything
Be foolish enough to

BELIEVE in MIRACLES

Be willing to
SHARE your JOYS
Be willing to
SHARE the sorrows of others

Be a leader when you see a path others have missed
Be a follower when
you are shrouded in the midst of uncertainty

Be the FIRST to CONGRATULATE an opponent who SUCCEEDS
Be the LAST to CRITICIZE a friend who FAILS

Be sure where next step will fall, so that you will not stumble
Be sure of your final destination,
in case you are going the wrong way.

Be LOVING
to those who LOVE you

Be LOVING
to those who DO NOT LOVE you,
and they may CHANGE.

Above all, BE YOURSELF.
