Happy day back to school & East Coast

Yeah! Finally, I am back to work in school. Glad that everyone welcomed me back with warm smiles. Heehee, sure loved seeing my dear colleagues especially Jocelyn, Serene & Eunice. My friends whom I love.

Of couse, I was elated to see my dear students like Jing Jing & Wan Fang. Their eyes sparkled when they passed my panda backrest to me in the staffroom. Heehee... and even said they missed me. Oh ... so sweet. My heart melted when they cooed that they missed me very much.

I also met the new student, Shawn. Haha... smart looking cute boy with potential to be monitor and prefect. I must take photographs of the children tomorrow. Hoho... so I can dwell in sweet memories during the holidays. I miss them too...

In addition, I met with the newbies aka the Beginning Teachers (BT) Shu Xin & Zac. Two bright new faces fresh from NIE. Well, I employed their help in sorting & reviewing the English worksheets for next 2 terms, term 3 & 4 together with the rest of the Primary 4 teachers, Gayle, Pierre & Jocelyn. With powers combined, we achieved speed in reviewing the worksheets needed for teaching of various process writing, cloze and comprehension skills.

More to be done for tomorrow ... going to work on the Scheme of Work (SOWs) for next 2 terms. Not to forget Essential Texts and other stuff for Reading/Writing journal ... and the list goes on. More reviewing of Mathematics & Science stuff too.

Many people think that we teachers get to enjoy our holidays. Hmmm... well, we only get to enjoy after taking away the first and last weeks of holidays that are official work week. Hence, as teachers, we report to work as early as 7.30 a.m. and leave around 3 p.m. if all is well... otherwise, we stay till around 5 p.m. That's the life of teachers... we are very hardworking. Hah.

Of course, a balanced lifestyle should be maintained to stay healthy and fit. Hence, I proceeded to walk to East Coast Park to cycle. Heehee... I cycled to my favourite pit-stop, the Castle Beach.
Once again, being an avid nature photographer, I took shots of the fantastic sight of sandcastles sculptured by experts. Wow! I really wonder how did they sculpture it to be able to withstand the wind, rain & disturbance like inquisitive little children who like digging at it.
After enjoying the sea view, I walked over with my rented bike to the food centre nearby to eat my favourite mutton soup aka KAMBING SOUP & coconut drink. Yummy! I love eating. Heehee... I have a good appetite whenever I am happy or chilling out. Being a filial daughter, I bought 10 satays for takeaway to bring home for my parents to eat too. :P

Next, I cycled to Bedok Jetty to enjoy the cool view. By then, it was almost time to return the bike.

Thus, I started cycling back to the Coastal Recreation Bicycles Rental shop to return the bike. Upon returning, I get a free drink. Just what I needed.... BASIC NEED OF HYDRATION.

Joyfully, I walked to East Coast Road to take a bus home. Loving to spend time wisely, I started reading my book 'Learned Optimism' while waiting for bus 40. I love to read. Efficient use of time & increase knowledge & wisdom. Haha...I enjoyed my bus ride home as I read my book with great enthusiasm. I learned that I tend to have a pessimistic outlook as I personalise and internalise most matters of life. Well, time to change to a more positive outlook. It will take time as being a personal type of person is just so me... my close friends will know how I am well... tendency to be anxious and irritable easily especially when I am unwell.

Thankfully, the people around me have been patient and tolerant of me and my nonsense at times.

Nonetheless, I have to work on learned optimism... moving from pessimism to optimism. Looking at life from a different perspective and point of view, just like photography. Slowly cheering up... Yoz.

Arts Festival performances

In the evening, I took bus 100 with my mother to Padang to watch the famous La Fura dels Baus (Spain) DREAMS IN FLIGHT performances that started at 8 p.m. We were just in time to partake in the merrymaking.

We were entertained by the variety of roving performers in the prelude to my dream journey.

The Furan performance definitely wowed me as I was snapping photographs simultaneously. Hahaha... great enjoyment of the Arts.

The performances ended on a high note with the acrobats hung high in the air as part of DREAMS OF FLIGHTS. Fireworks display sprouted right behind these acrobats. Wow!!!

Heehee, being well-equipped, I flashed my SLR camera using my timer mode for better exposure and used my Fujifilm Finepix digital camera to capture the fireworks display using the movie aka video mode.
Waah... Yeah! I am elated to be able to capture the marvellous sight of fireworks on both cameras. Heehee...

After the fireworks display ended, the crowds quickly cleared. Meanwhile, I took time to enjoy taking photographs with my mother using my SLR camera set on night mode on my tripod. Cool view of the nightscape @ Padang. Heh heh... see my different poses.

Next, we walked to Esplanade for more shots by the bay. The Merlion and Fullerton Hotel were the dominant background of my photos by the bay.

Excellent view in the night. See my corny/ spastic poses... hahahahaha... the joy of photography.

Following bay view, my mother and I proceeded to outside Esplanade to watch Violah The Box performance.

Woah! I was definitely attracted by the box and the drummers who were drumming away on the interestingly unique drums. Splendid view outside the Esplanade.

Finally, I brought my mother to the rooftop terrace to see a different view of the Esplanade aka Durian (liu lian).
We ended our night tour of the city by eating supper at Chocz with a piece of tiramisu & chocz kawa cake each. Yummy! I love eating, no doubt I am having a sore throat. Oops...

Here I am, happily downloading my photographs & videos for the day of Arty Festy... Yo Yo... Okie... time to go and rest. One more day of Medical Leave before I return to work on Tuesday. Yeah... I am looking forward to return to school once again. Missing all my friends at work... especially those who are close to me... hahaha... my comrades in teaching.

Just Be

Be strong enough to
face the world each day
Be weak enough to know
you cannot do everything alone

Be generous to those who need your help
Be frugal with what you need yourself

Be wise enough to know that
you do not know everything
Be foolish enough to

BELIEVE in MIRACLES

Be willing to
SHARE your JOYS
Be willing to
SHARE the sorrows of others

Be a leader when you see a path others have missed
Be a follower when
you are shrouded in the midst of uncertainty

Be the FIRST to CONGRATULATE an opponent who SUCCEEDS
Be the LAST to CRITICIZE a friend who FAILS

Be sure where next step will fall, so that you will not stumble
Be sure of your final destination,
in case you are going the wrong way.

Be LOVING
to those who LOVE you

Be LOVING
to those who DO NOT LOVE you,
and they may CHANGE.

Above all, BE YOURSELF.
