Psalm 42...Yearning for God in the Midst of Distresses

Early I arose at 8+a.m. to freshen up and prepare my healthy sandwich to eat for breakfast.

At 9.10.am., I knelt down at my bed in prayer to prepare myself to read my BIBLE for Quiet Time.

This morning, I meditated on Psalm 42. According to the Daily Bread, the topic is 'A Graduation Wish'. In my Precious Moments New King James Version (NLJV) Bible, the title is 'Yearning for God in the Midst of Distresses'. How true and close this title is to my heart and soul.

v.5 + v.11
"Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
For the help of His countenance and my God."

What I have learnt:

"The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime,
And in the night
His song shall be with me ---
A prayer to the God of my life."

"My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God... ..."

1) Fail at something important
One failure after another to see failure as an effective teacher.

2) Many songs of Israel were born in seasons of failure.
Out of desperation came the cry.

3) Sometimes, only when I am gasping for breath in the exhaustion of my own
strength, then I am ready to see the wonder of God's wisdom and strength.

4) Mountains of faith rise from the valleys of failure.

5) Before discovering the high ground I am looking for,
I may need to see the failure of the dreams I hold in my heart and trust instead in the love, wisdom and guidance of my God. --- adapted from Mart De Haan

Indeed, the words of GOd is so timely and hits me straight on target. To me, the Word of God truly is comforting, encouraging and ever so sweet to bring peace to my troubled and weary soul.

Yes, though I have faced failures in life, but all is not lost for GOD is with me throughout this life journey. Though I have fallen to the valley of failures, I shall arise to mount greater heights with the strength of the LORD my GOD! Through failures, I learn better and more. As the Chinese saying goes, failure is the mother to success. Throughout my life journey as a teacher, this has proven to be an absolute truth. Going through the "fires" and training, I have grown to be more refined. That's the spirit of PERSEVERANCE! Thanks be to the LORD my God for carrying me through the trials of life.

In good times or bad times, God is in control. Hence, I have nothing to fear as a Christian, a child of God, being saved by Jesus Christ. My GOD will never leave me nor forsake me. He answers my prayers... my cries for help, my call in desperation... hearing my prayer, petition, with thanksgiving, I present my requests to GOD. What a blessed assurance! All I need to do is JUST WAIT... wait upon God. God answers prayers and grants me the peace and serenity that I need. Amen.
