The JOY of Christian Fellowship

It has been ages since I last attended any Christian fellowship with Queenstown brothers and sisters in Christ. This evening, I joined in my first Chinese Working Adult Fellowship (WAF) at sis Yueying's house at Dover area.

Meeting sis Wendy at 7.20p.m., I took the opportunity to capture a few shots of sunset at Buona Vista MRT station. What an awesome and lovely sight of God's work of nature... sunset that exhibits a warm red glow

As we walked to sis Yueying's house, we had a good time catching up on old times. Friends cum sisters in Christ for several years.

Upon reaching sis Yueying's house, I was greeted with warm welcome and felt at ease to be there for the fellowship. Thanks be to the LORD for the opportunity to come for this WAF. I enjoyed the time of fellowship that started with Sis Xiao Rong sharing 3 great hymns/ songs: Christ Liveth in Me, Tong Peng Tian Lu, Xin Yi Gen Xin, followed by the powerful sharing of Bro San Yuan on 'Christian Fellowship'.

Indeed, the sharing was great, reminding me of several points about caring and sharing as brothers and sisters in Christ. As Christians, we are partners and partakers of the divine nature. The basis of our fellowship is eternal life in Jesus Christ. I was greatly encouraged by his sharing on the focus of Biblical fellowship is to encourage one another using the Word of God and help each other in spiritual growth. Fellowship is not just about eating and chatting together. It is about communion, sharing in the faith.

The most salient point that charges me up was that fellowship is serving with the gift God gave me to encourage others. It was something new to me in a sense... I never realised this point until now. Thank God for highlighting this to me in time. Hence, it's time I make good use of God's gift to me and serve Him in the way I ought to... to encourage others that they may benefit and be edified.
God has given each of us a gift. This gift that I have is different from what others have and it is multi-faceted. I must learn to use this gift of God to serve God meaningfully and faithfully. Thus, Fellowship means to serve one another with the God-given gift.

I am reminded that I am part of God's BODY. I have a part to play in God's plan.
* 1 Corinthians 12: 24 - 25
"... members should have the same care for one another."
As fellow Christians, we need each other... TO CARE & SHARE!
1 Corinthians 12: 31
"... earnestly desire the best gifts... more excellent way ... LOVE"
I was reminded that LOVE is not a gift, rather is what we ought to have.

The Responsibility of Fellowship is related to many Bible verses about "one another". The Sign of Fellowship is communion .... breaking of bread.

Fellowship is to stir up one another to LOVE and Do GOOD Works.

2 Corinthians 13: 5
"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith..."
i.e. To ask myself the question "Am I Christian a not?" to check if I am right with God.

* James 5: 16 => Looking out/ Watching out for one another in the LORD.
"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed..."

After the sharing, we split up into 3 groups for further discussion and sharing of prayer requests. I shared my prayer requests with sis Xiao Rong and prayed together with her. It was a good time of sharing, praying and fellowship. I thank God for this wonderful time of fellowship. Next, we had some desserts served by the hospitable host, sis Yueying. The dessert was sweet and tasty. While eating, I also chatted briefly with sis Jiakai and sis Wenqi. Well, catching up on old times...

To my surprise, sis Wenqi actually drives. Heehee... thankful to have her to drive a few of us to Dover MRT station where we could take the train home. I enjoyed the safe ride. Hahaha...

Thank the LORD for refreshing my soul and encouraging me with such warm fellowship. Aiming for restoration... Yes!
