PSALM 86...My Prayer for Mercy, with Meditation on the Excellencies of the LORD

Early I awoke at 5.45 a.m. to come before the LORD my GOD to pray and do my Quiet Time. Following the Daily Bread readings, I read Psalm 86. Indeed, this prayer of King David encompasses all I feel and pray about. Truly, God's Word comfort, encourages, renews and restores my weary body, mind and soul. His words are ever timely, never-failing. Praise be to the LORD!

PSALM 86 (taken from New King James version)
Prayer for Mercy, with Meditation on the Excellencies of the LORD
A Prayer of David

v.1 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me;
For I am poor and needy.
v.2 Preserve my life, for I am holy;
You are my God;
Save Your servant who trusts in You!

v.3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,
For I cry to You all day long.
v.4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
v.5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

v.6 Give ear O LORD, to my prayer;
And attend to the voice of my supplications.
v.7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You,
For You will answer me.
v.8 Among the gods, there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.
v.9 All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You,
O Lord,
And shall glorify Your name.
v.10 For You are great, and do wondrous things;
You alone are God.

v.11 Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
v.12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
v.13 For great is Your mercy toward me,
And You have delivered my soul
from the depths of Sheol.

v.14 O God, the proud have risen against me,
And a mob of violent men have sought my life,
And have not set You before them.
v.15 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.

v.16 Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me!
Give Your strength to Your servant,
And save the son of Your maidservant.
v.17 Show me a sign for good,
That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,
Because You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

What I have learnt from the above PSALM 86...
1) To serve is to lead
2) Plead for God's mercy
3) TRUST in GOD
c.f. Psalm 86: 2
"Save Your servant who trusts in You!"

4) *Controlling other people's lives is not a godly leader's trait;

But serving other people's needs is what the Lord considers great. - Sper*

5) The only leaders qualified to lead are those who have learned to serve.

Thus, ends my sharing for the day. Indeed, starting the day afresh with the LORD brightens my day and refreshes me as I slowly recover from my illness. Thanks be to the LORD for the prayers of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks be to the LORD for the wonderful and caring colleagues that I have as friends at Tanjong Katong Primary. The care, concern, support and understanding that has been given to me warms my heart and encourages me greatly to complete this journey as a teacher. I am grateful to all. Thanks.

Meanwhile, I will be resting well to recharge and be back on Wednesday 7th May to join my fellow teachers back in the battle line. Missing my adorable 2Diligence children too... hope they have been obedient and behaving well. Hope to hear compliments and not so much complaints about them. Just hoping... smiles... I trust they have been good children following the rules...
