Down with Bad Flu

After 4 weeks, I am still down with bad flu. This time, the flu got worse. I lost my voice after going to school to teach on Monday. My voice sounded horrible. After school, I visited my pupil, Adlina who had been absent for 2 days to bring her to Geylang Polyclinic to see a doctor as her father was unable to do so despite her having a fever.

At the same time, I consulted the doctor at Geylang Polyclinic a second time. The doctor was shocked to hear my barely audible voice, worsening of my flu and cough. Therefore, I was given a stronger dose of medication that could only be bought at the hospital.

Yesterday, my Dad went to Changi General hospital to collect the medication for me. Right now, after taking all the medication and having plenty of rest (by sleeping, drinking lots of water and not talking), I am thankful to God that I am slowly recovering. I had to rest my throat. However, I am still clearing my blocked nose and coughing out lots of phelgm due to the nasal congestion. Nonetheless, I am thankful that the doctor gave me 3 days Medical Leave so I can rest well enough to go back to work again on Friday. Meanwhile, I am also thankful for the understanding and helpful colleagues I have in the P2 level to assist the relief teacher in taking care of my class, 2Diligence, matters. Without their help, I doubt I can rest in peace.

As I rest at home, I also spend more time doing my Quiet Time (devotional time) reading the Bible and meditating on God's Word which is a source of comfort and strength for me. That's how I am renewed in strength and recover from my illness.

The following is a sharing from my Quiet Time reading of my NKJV Precious Moments Bible this morning.

John 9: 1 -11
True Trust

*v.3 "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him."

What I have learnt:
1) God has a purpose for everything that happens to me.
2) The greatest joy is having Jesus Christ in my life.
3) Live the godly purpose God has for me.
4) Trust in God.
5) Be a missionary for Jesus, spreading the gospel and love of Jesus.

** Lord, shape my life as only You can,
Guiding each day by Your loving plan;
Take what You need and give what You will;
My life is Yours to use and to fill.

Proverbs 15: 22 - 23
"Without the counsel, plans go awry,
But in the multitude of counsellors,
they are established.
A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
And a word spoken in due season,
how good it is!"

* Seek God's counsel in establishing my plans.

Hosea 6:1
"Come, and let us return to the LORD;
For He has torn, but He will heal us;
He has stricken, but He will bind us up."

* Return to God.
* God will heal me and bind me up after each trial of faith.
* God tears before He heals.
* Law comes before gospel; sense of need before the supply of it.

2 Corinthians 12:10

"Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

How true these words are to me. Indeed, God has torn me but now is healing me, restoring my faith, strength, hope and love. God is my ALL IN ALL! Praise be to the Lord.
While I rest in the Lord during my medical leave, I will also carry out my responsiblities to clear work at home as much as I can. Doing everything to the best of my current ability, being weak from a bad bout of flu. Doing it for God, not men.
