Down with a Bad Cough...Sick... Time to REST in the LORD JESUS CHRIST

Today was my worst day ever. For the first time in my life, I am so sick. After a whole day at school, I was tired out. I tried to stay for SA1 English Composition 2nd marking. However, after marking only 4 pieces of compo, I was coughing so badly and breathless that I had to tell my colleague, Mastura that I had to leave to see doctor. Thus, I bade farewell to my fellow P2 teachers who were marking and slowly struggled to make my way back to the staffroom to pack and leave.

Upon reaching the staffroom, I coughed so badly that I was breathless and giddy. Almost fainted. Informed my Level Manager, Hafizah about my condition and what to do with my class 2D in my absence. Next, I called out to my dear colleague, Meiling to help me as I started hyper-ventilating as a result of my bad cough that had been on for 3 weeks already. A few other colleagues came to my rescue too. So glad to have such great and caring colleagues. In my midst of hyper-ventilating and crying in pain due to my blocked nose, chest and heart pain, I saw many 'angels'.... my Principal, Mrs Cheong, Vice-principal, Mr Chua, Lay Leng, Karen, Jinhui, Meiling, Isabella, Patricia and even the school servant Auntie Manickam who surrounded me to encourage and comfort me. Thank you, my dear colleagues and friends.

After waiting for a while, the ambulance came and sent me to Accident & Emergency with Karen, Isabella and Lay Leng accompanying me. The paramedic was nice to me and taught me how to relax to take deep breaths. It was tough as I was in great chest pain as a result of continuous coughing. The pain made me cry, huff and puff so badly. It was terrible pain.... that I kept crying, wailing and howl in pain. So embarrassing... but I could not help it. The pain was just horrendous that my whole head spun, my hands and feet went numb and cramped... and breathless with continuous coughs and hyper-ventilating. Scary and frightening experience.

Thank God for the great colleagues I have who accompanied me there and prayed for me. It was wonderful comfort. After my Dad came, my colleagues went back to school to do SA1 compo marking. Life of teachers are as such... ever so hard-working. I rested on the bed in the observation room for a long while before I could breathe better. Following that, the nurse sent me to the doctor for a review before they discharged me to return home to rest.

Final diagnosis by the doctor at CHANGI GENERAL HOSPITAL (CGH): hyperventilation & bronchitis. After getting my medication, I waited for my mother to come and accompany me home.

Now, I am back home resting. I will be on MEDICAL LEAVE till 6th May. Trusting in God to help me to recover. I will be resting at home. The Lord is my SHEPERD, I SHALL NOT BE IN WANT. GOD WILL CARRY ME THROUGH. The daily bread reading for today happens to be PSALMS 23 THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD.
